THANK AND CREATE DAY

First thing First for think and create day was to get the rest of the ingredients needed for catering, all the bread, cheese and meat.

Natasha and I headed to paknsave and got what was left, storing everything in the storage room.

Around 12 the instillation Team helped set up the tables that were going to be used for the catering at the event, we used 4 tables, and thankfully the tablecloths were big enough to cover what we needed.

I got the help of:
Jerry
Corrie
Natasha
Beathony
Fabri

To help prepare and set up stuff. We first got all the glasses and drink downstairs setting them up on the longest table, then I stationed Jerry and Natasha to watch over the Alcohol, to make sure nobody pinched any, and also, when guests started arriving, so that they could start serving the drinks.
In the meantime: Corrie, Beathony, Fabri and I started preparing the food, all the foods that wouldn't go off easy, were prepared first, such as the lolies crackers and dip and grape platters. They were taken down as the other platters were being prepared, the ones that I didn't want left out waiting for too long, (worried they would dry out or go off)
Fabri was set in charge of preparing the Falafel skewers, Corrie, was on the bread Platters,
and I put together the meat and cheese platters.


The left over money from buying all the food and required Items was returned to the Treasurer, Caleb along with the recepts for buying all that was required.

After the food was all down it was all a matter of keeping someone attending the drinks, and making sure the food was topped up.

As people were started being ushered to Centre stage, we started to take the food back up to the stoage room, to help drive people out fo the raw gallery and into Centre stage for the Main event of the nights.
At the interval, some things were brought back down for people to snack at>>

After the event. everything was stored in the spare room. the extra food is open for raiding asa we can't keep it here over the summer.

I have put Natasha Incharge of cleanup, she is also taking all the glasses back,

Catering Update

Wednesday 6th November

Thankful the full budget came though, so we had no need for the plan B or to cut down on what we were getting.
We first got to buying the material items at Hello Banana on Esk Street, the Total of that costing $70 less then we had anticipated, leaving $70 spare.

We next went to packnsave to buy the food that we didn't need fresh so all of the non perishable foods and foods that would be okay overnight,

I misjudged on the sized of some of the products we were getting resulting in us needing less of that particular Item, which means we now have more then we will probably need,
However we do still need to get the perisible items on the list tomorrow, such as the bread, cheese and Meant.
We used Natasha's car to transport the products to SIT Downtown campus, storing the fruit and vegg in the Staff fridge.

After that Natasha went to get the Booze and glasses, I would have gone with her however, we needed the car for it and she is only on her restricted meaning she couldn't take her with me, She managed to gett everything including the glasses with no issue.

I do think that we will ha ve money left over for the catering, this will be given back to the Treasurer after purcising all we need for think and create.

The budget might not fully come through in time for think and create, Because of this, We need to create a back up plan.

Our Limit now is $800 or lower for the catering budget.

We have cut it down, trying to do so more.

Going to start getting stuff tomorrow
Will get everything, Wednesday and Thursday Morning, then Before think and Create prepare the food

Before I did not realize I would need outside help getting everything

The food, the alcohol, and the non food items.

I might need outside help, people with cars to transport the items required for think and create.
I think I annoyed a lot of people for not realizing this sooner.

I thought I would have had more time to get this all together.

I have done what I can to widdle down the price, I handed it over to Natasha as I had another class to attend, After I shall talk to her about how we are getting it all.

Update

The final touches were made to my scenes that I was working on,
I edited the saturation on several scenes and removed the port glow, while VAL is outside of her port
The glow that emits from VAl while outside of her port was brightened or opacity turned down so that it is less solid and saturated










After Polishing the scenes, they were exported out, and put on temp drive for Jaquie to put together in Premier. I did end up going back through the scenes I had composited in case I had missed something and ended up having to edit and re-render scene 10_5, due to the port glow being to strong within the scene, after feathering the glow some more and lowering the opacity it was ready to re-render.

Update

I have a lot of regrets on this honestly
The main one is handing in the wrong file for submission
Hopefully I still pass

I do like how the animation turned out, it was clean and smooth, I only wish I had time to animate it, which I might have If I had gotten myself together and started earlier


On another note a cartoon got released called Hazbeen Hotel, the pilot episode has been released

Audio

In the end I am just mainly wanting to get this audio project done, Thanks to the computer I was using in the first half of the semester I feel as if I have missed the most important skill in using pro tools, which mean I am mainly improvising when it comes to this current project.

All Sounds were recorded in the audio suweet at SIT Sound, any other sounds used were recorded earlier in the Semester during Audio classes.

The music used for this assignment was created by Ross Bugden, The music is both copyright and royalty free




Catering Update

Catering Update:

After looking at the Venue after most of the artworks were installed, there was a ton of emty space withing the raw gallery.
Due to this new update I decided that All the catering should be moved downstairs, to for one be in the main area and too keep people happy, and also to fill in some of the emty space within the raw gallery, the food and drinks will all by near the gaming room,

With the catering downstairs we wont hav direct acsess to the hot water, However, in the Boom Room there is a large thermos that we can use to store hot water, This will run out quickly, however with the thermos it will be easier to transport from upstairs to the hot drinks table

Audio Update

I have done more of the Audio

I have done Monoinoke Folley and Ashitaka Folley, along with some SFX background noise,
My next move will be to add folley for lady Iboshi and Gonza
then finnishing implimenting SFX

I have also founbd and added music to the Audio
Coipyright freee from Ross Bugden.

Update

So far I am currently adding effects to Val,
Majority of the effects are underway on VAL at this point I am fine tuning the effects, and comparing them to Fabri's Compositing so that the end result of VAL is not all over the place and remains consistent throughout the short film, "Welcome Home"

Notes (recorded on docs, easier for me to record stuff)

Screen Arts:

RWBY: Ruby’s Introduction

What I gathered from it (RWBY and Monty Owm)

  • Establishing shot easing in to introduce the main character
  • Situation looking bad only to reveal the main character is under no harm
  • Main character turns the table
  • cutaway shot used for comedic purposes and to tease ruby's fighting ability
  • Background, things in the background indicating the characters skill and interests.
Bold colours for each character
  • Simple to no shading and simple animation

What I want to use what I learned for:
I want to create a short scene with Ace and Ezaru, in this scene
I want to set up a sense of foreboding that one character is a threat to the other, only for it at the point of contact to be revealed that there is no danger to the character to be thought in danger
Not focusing on weapons for me


Experiment 1.1:
Establishing shot of Ezaru flying down and landing, she stalks up on Ace appearing to be hunting only, to surprise him and it turns out that they know each other and are ok

Experiment 1.1.5:
Same and 1 but with a lower angle on the stalking

Experiment 1.2:
Establishing shot of mountainside with rickety bridge Ace standing in the middle, Cut to Ezaru finding him and trotting up to the bridge Ace turns around. She accidentally breaks the bridge. And ace falls, Ezaru Quickly goes to save him.

Experiment 1.3:
Ezaru with a hurt wing is scrabbling to get back on a ledge of a cliff, Ace is trying and failing to get her back up despite his efforts, Ezaru fall off the edge to Ace’s despair, only for ezaru to fall about a meter, Ace snorts at this.



What I need to do now is look into the trailer introductions and one or two other characters to help me go further in my experiments
What I gathered from the trailers

  • Characters tied to a certain colour
  • Lyrics have a connection to the characters to be introduced
  • Weapons huge thing

Trailer Red:
There is no dialog only using the visuals and music to set up Ruby’s character, what kind of person she is, we see that, from this trailer she is a skilled fighter even against many enemies.
The lyrics in the music connect specific colour to the characters and a hint of their past and or personality:

Red like roses fill my dreams and bring me to the place you rest:
  • Ruby rose, her connected colour being red, and the latter part of the lyrics is a reference to her decessed mother, as in the trailer she end up walking there

White like snow is always yearning, pardoned by the royal test.
  • White like snow is referring to weiss schnee, always yearning, I believe refers to her wanting to be free of her family ties, wanting to be able to become a huntress as are her desires, as for the latter I am unable to figure this out

Black like beasts, send like shadows.
  • Black is the colour connecting to the character blake, the reference to beasts could be taken as a hint towards the grim however I believe it is a reference to Blake’s faunus heritage. The second part I think is hinting towards her semblance which allows her to leave some form of shadow copy behind so she can escape a hit.

Yellow beauty burns gold
  • The last one refers to yang, the colour yellow is the hue tied to this specific character, the burning gold part, is connection to her fiery personality, and the rage that can come with it.










Trailer WHITE

Weies is shown in front of a large audience alone, showing that a lot of attention is on her and her position.

Like the RED trailer the White trailer’s music references to the story, however in this case it only refers to weiss schnee rather then all the four main characters.
Also in this case, weiss is performing her song in front of an audience.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

The trailer switches between her performing and her fighting a big metal suit of armor, these scenarios are flawlessly blended together, both take place in a darkened area that look very similar.


Trailer Black
The trailer starts off with a small interaction between two characters
The music doesn’t really hit till they jump onto the train signaling the start of their mission.



Trailer Yellow
A mix of the Red trailers music is played in the first half of the trailer
On the drop of gold, the beat changes and Yang starts to fight
It then transitions into a remix of the White Trailers song
Then following a remix of the Black trailer’s song
Then the music finally moves to lyrics relating to the character.

The trailer does have casual dialog between characters making the setting appear more casual rather then a music trailer or music video, in a sense it grounds the characters.
At the end of the trailer, Ruby appears, introducing us to their relationship as yang greets her with, “Hey sis”

Something I have noticed with all the trailers is that:

1: The music related to the character and Minus the Red trailer,
      talk about the situation that the character currently is in

2: there is a quote relating to the character at the beginning of the trailer

3: Qrow appears in every trailer at some point.

4: they are in some shape or form fighting an enemy/enemies

From this, I might drop the Project down to One character. To add more focus to them, I will also be able to focus more on one characters situation before they meet rather then what is going to be the status quo with them, This is because it is currently still in progress.

List of things for Inspiration:
  • Character connected to a colour
  • The clip connects to the situation of the character
  • The first scene sets up the setting of where the character is
  • The background containing things that show the characters interests
  • Majestic quotes that have something to do with character
  • Heavily connected to music
  • Two scenes reflecting each other
  • Memory shown as a reflection
  • Shrouded in mystery first, then reveal the character
  • Setting is shown before character.
  • Playing with character size difference











Experiment 2.1:
Ezaru Encountering a set trap
Setting of a deep forest, panning to, showing the covered trap from above, a mouse is tied up to a prong, 
from the bushes emerges ominous eyes, growling, in a split second (cam cut)
The dragon pounces on the mouse, and the trap is set (cutting as it closes)
Moma dragon finds the baby ezaru, who is yowling, she breaks the trap scolding baby Ezaru.



Experiment 2.2
Ezaru returning to the nest after leaving Ace, 
and she keeps seeing him in the room (though the environment)

Light pouring through the entrance of the nest A shadow show up through the door, looking ominous, for Ezaru to tenderly walk in (looking down on her)
She jumps onto her ledge and looks towards the door expectantly, (like a doggo)

I keep looking at the plot, I have no idea how im supposed to do this, so far the only one i'm happy with is 1.1.5
I ended up doing two characters for the first, 

I'm finding it hard to create an introduction for them, Trying for one Could work, 2.1 was more introducing baby ezaru and her mother, more setting up for her Mother,

I think I need to introduced one then one, as in RWBY they introduced one main character at a time giving time for us to see how the character interacts and works, I still believe my 1.1.5 Best reflects this
I currently have 3 animatic, intros and 5 written intros,

Caatering Update

Catering:

The number of staff have been chizzled down due to most people being busy on the day of the exbition opening.
we have also now made changes to locations,
The food will be spit having some downstairs with the non achaholic drinks and the other half, upstairs with the hot drinks

Catering update:

I have finnished, rewriting the catering.
All the Food and drinks have been talied up
I handled all the food and Natasha handled the drinks and equipment, sataff also
I then collected all the data together into an excel sheet,
along with formating it into word, (natasha had already done so for other then food) For the Meeting on Tuesday>

On that day I will also bring to everyones attention about our staffing needs/

I have also sumbited an artist statment after being told that, I do, indeed need to sumbit something< (mistake of not thinking so on my part)
